Project Name: Marc Jacobs Store Opening

Client: Marc Jacobs

Venue: Maiden Lane in San Francisco

Description of Project:
When designer Marc Jacobs opened his new store on Maiden Lane in San Francisco's posh Union Square shopping district, he wanted a party with an environment as stylish as his fashions. The challenge presented to John Murray Productions was to make the interior of his party tent as elegant and refined as the interior of his store. We overcame the challenge by first building a perfectly flat sub floor with various levels to accommodate handicapped elevators and fire lanes. HDO then built a 14' tall tent on top of our structure with a clear top and no walls. After the black carpet was laid, we came back in with muslin walls that were stretched tight on our unique support system. The walls of the tent were later lined with walnut benches; bars and small tables, all built in our scenic shop to match the interior of Marc Jacobs. Terry Ohm of Impact lighting http://www.impactsf.com/ provided the theatrical lighting elements that gave the space a warm and inviting atmosphere.
